Sharon is a passionate artist who paints in a classical realistic style, with occasional touches of impressionism, depending on the subject and the need. Unable to limit herself to just a few categories, she paints a variety of subjects including portraits, still life, figurative, floral, animals and landscapes. However, her favorites are portraits - both people and animals.
Sharon grew up in Southern West Virginia in a small coal mining community. Although she always had an interest in art, she took a circuitous route via the Air Force and traveled/lived in nine states and England.
Upon retirement, her interest in art surfaced again. She studied and painted in acrylics, watercolors and oils, finally settling on oils.
Sharon has no formal art school education. She is basically self-taught, although she attended and graduated from several formal certification classes,(including Bob Ross and Johnnie Liliedahl), becoming a certified Ross and Liliedahl instructor.
Currently, she teaches in her home studio in Knoxville, TN. She is a member of the Portrait Society of American, Oil Painters of America, Tennessee Artist Association, Arts and Culture Alliance, Oak Ridge Art Center and Blount County Arts and Crafts Guild.
